CYCLING ORTHOTICS – WHAT IS SOLESTAR®?

solestar-image-1-01.pngThe SOLESTAR® cycling orthotic is made from a high quality carbon fibre material which results in an extremely light and strong insole. Its special operating principle stabilizes the foot, preventing the shear forces which typically occur when pedaling, and corrects the movement mechanism. In this way, the rider will achieve their maximum performance. In contrast to conventional forms of carbon fibre, it has exceptionally good stiffening capabilities and is able to absorb the torsion forces created during the push and pull phase without any problem. It slackens then returns to its original shape - the ideal material for the SOLESTAR® insole.

The SOLESTAR® Principle

During the push phase of the pedaling cycle, the tray shaped shank and torsion support prevents medial collapse of the foot and ankle. The SOLESTAR® insole also plantarflexes the first metatarsophalangeal joint whilst the middle toes are supported, reducing pressure. This provides an even force distribution onto the entire middle foot axis resulting in significantly increased power and torque.

During the pull phase, the elevation of the lateral rim at the forefoot serves as a border and prevents the foot from sliding laterally and losing grip, again increasing power output. To ensure the high quality demanded by the modern cyclist, the insole blanks are primarily hand-made in Germany. The carbon core is fired using the most advanced techniques of carbon production.

These premium cycle orthotics are then customised for the individual cyclist after a thorough biomechanical assessment and video analysis on a wind trainer.
